Next time you munch on your popcorn whilst engrossed at the cinema or curl up on the sofa to watch a favourite TV programme, there is a good chance you will be watching Perspex® somewhere on screen.
Thanks to the creative, technical and fabrication skills of UK based fabrication experts Inplas, Perspex® has been used in a range of films and TV programmes including family favourites such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (remember the Great Glass elevator - yes it was Perspex®) and Thunderbirds the Movie (the 3 piece roof in lady Penelope’s pink sports car).
Big on the small screen
Its not just on the large screen that Perspex® has found a place; Perspex® has been used to great effect in some of the UK’s most well loved and widely watched TV programmes, many of which are broadcast and are hugely popular across Europe.
Perspex® has been used in the studio sets for iconic sporting programmes such as Wimbledon and Match of the Day/Inside Sport as well as the ITV News at 10, ESPN and Five News programmes.
Perspex® has even been used in the ads in between the programmes! The beautifully crafted, illuminated cubes which were a crucial element of the successful Littlewoods Christmas campaign were made by Inplas using the highly versatile and eminently photogenic Perspex® Frost.
Creative potential
The fact that Perspex® has been used to such great effect in the development of scenery, backdrops, props, equipment and other key parts of film and TV production is largely down to the skill and ability of companies like Inplas.
However it’s doubtless that the supreme versatility that Perspex® offers, allows technical experts such as Inplas to fully exploit its creative potential.
Crystal clear clarity, a beautiful array of colours and stunning effects such as Frost and Pearlescent mean that Perspex® is the perfect material on screen and of course off.
So, next time you are at the cinema or watching TV, don’t forget to look out for Perspex®.
