Project parameters
Perspex® clear acrylic in 20mm and 25mm thick sheet has been used to create beautiful transparent walls in this years summer Pavilion at London’s prestigious Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens

Each year the gallery commissions designers or architects who have not yet had their work shown in England, to produce a temporary summer Pavilion which is used to house the main summer programme of exhibitions and events. This year, Japanese architects Kazuyo Sejima, one of the founding partners of SANAA and Ryue Nishizawa were commissioned to create the Pavilion

The result was a beautiful, ethereal structure comprising a curved, shaped and highly polished aluminium canopy roof, supported by tall slim columns, bound by partial and intermittent walls.

The structure was fabricated by HLN Supplies and as material sponsors of the Pavilion, Perspex Distribution Ltd supplied the Perspex® sheet.

The Pavilion was open during the summer months up to late autumn and was the venue for a number of exhibitions and events including a two-day poetry marathon.
